The incumbent Kasese Municipality Mayor, Chance Kahindo who is seeking re-election has been duly nominated by the Electoral Commission.
Mr. Kahindo was nominated today at around 12:00noon by the District Returning Officer, Godfrey Mbabazi at the Kasese District Multi-purpose hall in Nyamwamba Division.
Addressing the press shortly after being nominated, Kahindo noted that after working on the infrastructure, his second political term would focus on elevating the Municipality into a city status.
According to him, for the town to be elevated to a city status, they consider the infrastructure. He also vowed to ensure zero tolerance to corruption.
Kahindo’s Deputy Mayor, Rabson Mupango was also nominated for the position of Municipal Councillor representing Basecamp Ward.
Mupango told the press that following the experience he had gained in leadership, he would ably represent his electorate if they entrust him with another chance.
The incumbent Council Speaker, UkashSwaibuMusenene, told the press shortly after being nominated that he would fulfill his plans of securing an investor to work on the garbage management plant so that Kasese remains clean and an attractive town.
Sikuzan Masika was also nominated for the position of Municipal Woman Councillor representing the people living with disabilities.
In her maiden address, Masika stressed that she would advocate for the construction of ramps at some public places for easy accessibility.
