A section of concerned politicians in Kasese has said it might be hard for the most farmers in the district to embrace the four-acre model as advocated for by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, alleging that they have negatively been affected by the land wrangles.
The pieces of land in question include Nkoko, Kyabatukura, Bigando and Rwehingo among others, forcing their claimants to camp at the RDC’s office in Kasese town as they seek redress.
Robert AsingyaMuthoma, a Lawyer by profession and a Parliamentary hopeful for Kasese Municipality says it was high time for the leaders to brief the Head of State about the land issues in Kasese district so that they are addressed for the farmers to adhere to the Presidential advice of the four-acre model.
Mr. Muthoma also suggests to the District Land Board together with the legislators from Kasese to investigate the land wrangles that are on an increase in the district.
According to him, when the root cause is realized, they would advise the relevant authorities on the next course of action.
Julius Bwambale Rubowa, a Parliamentary hopeful for Busongora County South on an independent ticket, says the land wrangles need to be addressed because the district is a food basket in the Region.
He advocates for unity and peace in diversity among all the tribes in the district.
