Mr. Asasio Kule Kithiri, a resident of Kibiri village who had expressed interest to contest for the position of Muhokya sub-county Chairperson in Busongora County South, Kasese District has stepped down for the incumbent Chairperson, Mr. Asanairi Mugusu.

Kithiri who had wanted to aspire on the National Unity Platform ticket officially announced his decision yesterday in an attempt to promote unity and peace amongst the party members.

Speaking to the press last evening at the Kasese NUP offices, Kithiri explained that they had a peaceful harmonization meeting with the incumbent Chairperson and realized that he was strong enough to lead the party to success.

Shortly after a successful harmonization meeting, Mr. Mugusu said that he was happy for his fellow to allow him become a sole candidate.

He appealed to the rest of the party members to borrow a leaf from Kithiri and harmonize so that the party does not register challenges related to petitions after the vetting exercise.

Mr. Bryans Basisa, the NUP Chairperson for Kasese District revealed that the vetting exercise would take place on Sunday for those aspiring for local government councils and later on go to the MPs on 20th.

However, MPs will be vetted by the head offices in Kampala.

He encouraged the aspirants to embrace harmonization so that they don’t cause conflicts that lead to divisions and disunity.
