The challenge of water crisis in Nyakabingo sub-county, Kasese district will soon be history after the leadership secured a donor organization that will soon rehabilitate Nyakabingo Mini- Gravity Water Flow Scheme.
The revelation was sounded yesterday during a community meeting that was held at Nyakabingo Health Centre II.
Mr. Charles Thembo Kahitison, the Sub-county Chairperson says that Rwenzori Christian Foundation, a Nongovernmental Organization with funding from the United States of America is set to commence the rehabilitation works of the project that had broken down so that the lower local government benefits from the water supply.
According to him, the project is expected to start in Augustine with the beneficiary areas being Kyaminyoku, Maghando, Sayuni and part of Kasese Municipality.
He, however, appeals to the community members to also embrace the system of water harvesting as an alternative way of having enough water at their homes especially during the rainy season.
Mr. Alison Kasiringi and Mr. Bright Twetise attached to Joy International in partnership with Rwenzori Christian Foundation revealed that the water project would also come along with Cocoa growing in a bid to improve the people’s livelihoods as well as ensuring environmental protection.
Mr. Remegio Ngangasi, the L.C 1 Chairperson for Kyaminyoku village welcomed the project but observed the need for the community members to ensure its sustainability. ENDS
