BY JOACKIM KULE MUHESI

Hundreds of the land victims currently encamped at the RDC’s office in Kasese town were yesterday left stranded after the exercise meant to reopen the boundaries of the disputed Kyabatukura land in Kitswamba Sub-county did not take place for yet to be known reasons.

According to the program, the exercise was meant for reopening the boundaries of the three pieces including Ibuga-Kisanga, Ibuga Prison Farm and Ibuga Settlement Farm, something that had prompted hundreds of the camp occupants to board trucks to the area to witness the exercise.

Ms Grace Biira, the Chairperson of the victims says that they were ready to participate in the boundary reopening exercise but they received orders, demanding for clearance from the Inspector General of Police even when they had been cleared by the RPC.

Last evening, a boda-boda rider in the names of Reuben Mweryabisandu, aged 39 from Nyamwamba Division of Kasese Municipality reached the camp and reported that he transported three men to Burambira and were beaten by the people who looked to be security officers in the area.

He said that the passengers he took to the area were from the camp tagged and bearing identity cards.

When asked about the allegations, Kasese Deputy RDC in- charge of Bukonzo, Lt. (Rtd) Maate Magwara told the press that he had not heard about the incident by press time and therefore could not issue an official comment. ENDS
