Rwenzururu veterans who worked with gov’t yet to receive their pension

At least 120 files belonging to the Rwenzururu Veterans who worked with government as Chiefs have been submitted to the Ministry of Public Service so that they are considered to benefit from the pension scheme for retirees.

The Kasese District Chairperson, Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi made the revelation today morning while speaking to our reporter in an exclusive interview in Kasese town.

According to him, all the files had been received and government was in the due process of sanctioning them for consideration.

Muhindi explained that the Rwenzururu Veterans who played a vital role of extending government services to the natives had for long remained without any financial support in form of pension as retired civil servants.

Muhindi also revealed that the government had increased the Indicative Planning Figures (IPFs) of the lower local governments for the coming Financial Year following the district’s good performance in the national assessment exercise for the implementation of programs.

He cited Isango sub-county which will receive shillings 200 million for the construction of an administration block and Kabatunda –Kirabaho Town Council which will receive 150 million for the road maintenance while the Local Government will be given 400 million for the administration block.

He reiterated his earlier call for joint efforts in fighting corruption so that the government programs are not frustrated.
