URA calls on students to register with the tax body

The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has reiterated its call to the students at the Higher Institutions of Learning in Kasese district to register with the tax body as a way of embracing the culture of paying taxes.

Ms Vicky Lodia Fillinar, the acting Supervisor under the Tax Education from URA made the reiteration yesterday afternoon while lecturing the students at Liberty College of Management and Journalism in Kasese town about the need to get registered with the tax body and understand their tax responsibilities, rules and regulations.

She stressed that URA decided to extend tax education sessions in schools in an attempt to create an informed and responsible society that is tax complaint.

Mr. Sezi Bwambale, the Principal Tutor at Liberty College of Management and Journalism, appreciated the tax body for offering an informative session to the students, encouraging the trainees to take up the opportunity of registering with URA so that they fulfill their obligations of paying taxes.

Mr. Elvine Byamantama, the College’s Guild President elect, who commended URA for the training session offered to the students, explained that registering with the tax body would motivate the learners to pay taxes for the growth and development of the nation.
