The Member of Parliament for Busongora County North in Kasese district has urged the parents to utilize the current holiday break to discover their children’s talents and accord them the necessary support in developing them.
Hon. Sowedi Kitanywa sounded the advice over the weekend at Hima Catholic Playgrounds in Hima Town Council while officiating at the finals of the Hima-Kasenyi Parish Football tournament.
Kitanywa explained that other than the academic potentials, children can too benefit a lot from their own natural talents once identified and improved, urging the parents to exploit the holiday break to work on the noble cause.
He also stressed that sports unites the people together and prevents children from indulging themselves in unnecessary acts such as child abuse and theft among others, adding that as leaders, it was their sole responsibility to connect the talented children in various sports fields to the available opportunities.
Mr. Godfrey Tabu, the proprietor of Hima – Kasenyi Parish Football tournament who expressed interest to represent the people of Kasenyi Ward to Hima Town Council as a Councilor, revealed that he intends to center on sports as a catalyst to boost local tourism for the benefit of the local population.
He also disclosed that there was a serious need to encourage and support old people to embrace physical exercises to address the challenge of non- communicable diseases among them.
Market Square village FC emerged the winner of the first edition of the Hima- Kisenyi parish football tournament after scoring one goal against Kasojo FC in the last minutes of the game and went home with a trophy and 500,000 shillings donated by Hon. Kitanywa. ENDS
