Private clinic and drug shop operators in Kasese district have been advised to acquire the necessary operating licenses in order to avoid conflicting with the law.
The advice was sounded yesterday afternoon by Stephen Bagonza, the Kasese Assistant District Health Officer in-charge of Environmental Health while meeting the private health practitioners at district headquarters.
Mr. Bagonza explained that registering clinics and drug shops enables the health department to support the operators in case of any allegations that might be slapped against them.
He also cautioned them against the practice of employing unqualified personnel to man their clinics.

Bagonza urged the operators to renew their personal licenses, arguing that the operational licenses for the businesses alone were insufficient.
He warned them against the practice of treating diseases that are beyond their expertise.
Mr. Julius Mutoro, the Kasese District Infection Prevention and Control Focal Person, urged the operators to maintain the standards of operating health facilities, advising that patients should be assessed and referred if necessary.
