Kyondo Sub-county NRM Caucus won’t support any independent candidate

BY ZALIMON BASIGHALHA (GOOD LUCK)

The Kyondo Sub-county NRM Caucus has resolved not to support any individual who would contest as an independent candidate after participating in the party primary elections slated for next year.

The meeting that was convened yesterday at St. Luke Kinyabisiki Church of Uganda was aimed at making evaluations and preparing for the forthcoming elections.

During the meeting, the NRM members and leaders acknowledged that some of them had been supporting independent NRM leaning candidates in the General Elections after failing to go through in the primaries, hence affecting the party performance.

Led by the Kyondo Sub-county NRM Chairperson, Jim Kalimunda, the caucus also unanimously endorsed Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as their sole Presidential candidate. They also revealed that they were planning to have sole candidates at other lower positions including the Parliamentary Seat and District Chairpersonship.

Mr. Isaac Bwambale Kawaida, the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Head of Chieftains in Kyondo Sub-county, warned the intending aspiring candidates against the practice of deceiving the electorate that they had been fronted by the Cultural Institution which is non partisan.

Sarah Ithungu Baleke, the NRM flag bearer for the District Woman Parliamentary seat, appealed to the members to embrace unity as a pillar for winning the forthcoming elections.

Dr. Julius Monday Bwambale Rude, the NRM Chairperson for Bukonzo County East, urged the party leaders and members to bury the hatchets that occurred during the 2021 General Elections and focus on the new ways and strategies of winning the 2026 General Elections.
