The Uganda Land Commission has today embarked on a display of maps exercise for the people to benefit from the government land in Karusandara Sub-county, Kasese District.
The display of maps by the Uganda Land Commission follows the government’s gazette to officially avail land titles to the people who have been settling on the government land of Mubuku Prison, Mubuku Irrigation Settlement Scheme and the Game Corridor of Kibale National Park.
Addressing the press, Tom John FisherKasenge, a Commissioner from the Uganda Land Commission, stressed that the purpose to have a display of maps was to enable the community verify themselves and their land boundaries before the final stage of availing land titles is reached.
He, however, revealed that Kyalanga and Kanamba Parishes had been left out on the display of maps, adding that government will still work with the locals to degazette the said areas.
Mr. Darausi Nzitatira, the Chairperson L.CIII for Karusandara Sub-county hailed the government for her commitment of ensuring that people acquire full land titles.
Lt. Joe Walusimbi, the Kasese RDC, applauded the President for responding positively to the people’s cry, asking the community members to embrace the idea of having land titles, an act he said serves as evidence of land ownership.
Some of the residents commended the government for the opportunity, saying they were going to stay peacefully on the land with their own titles.
