Tuberculosis (TB) has been cited among the contagious diseases that are silently killing people in Kasese district due to the minimal attention towards combating its transmission.
This is allegedly influenced by little efforts towards creating awareness campaigns about its transmission and prevention among the communities.
Mr. Nason Kisomerya, the Kasese District Supervisor for TB and Leprosy says the rate of TB transmission of the disease is high.
Kisomerya made the revelation today afternoon while addressing the press during the launch of a four-day screening event of the land victims currently encamped at the Kasese RDC’s office.
According to him, statistics indicate that last month, over 50 people in Kasese district tested positive for TB while today afternoon, one person among the land victims living at the camp tested positive.
He, however, put it categorically clear that the disease is treatable and curable if the victim is identified, encouraging the people to always take a keen interest in visiting health facilities so that they are examined if they have the infection.
