Authorities at St. Paul’s Vocational Secondary School – Kamaiba in the Central Division of Kasese Municipality have a reason to smile after securing an alternative source of light to cater for the persistent electric power blackouts.
Last evening, the South Rwenzori Diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku commissioned a solar system project estimated at over shillings 15 million purposely to provide light to the learners in both boys’ and girls’ hostels.
He emphasized the need for the workers employed in various institutions to work hard towards building and sustaining good names that could as well let them leave permanent legacies.
Mr. Jockus Masereka, the Headteacher at St. Paul’s Vocational Secondary School and Ven. Robert Ziwa. the Sub-dean at St. Paul’s Cathedral, expressed gratitude to the Bishop for fulfilling his earlier pledge, revealing that the institution was struggling to have light during electricity blackouts.
Speaking on behalf of the students, Vivian Musoki, the school Head girl and Dan Mumbere, the Speaker to the School Council could not hide their excitements and told the Prelate that the project would assist them to improve their academics since they are now assured of fulltime light.
Bishop Baluku, however, appealed to them to jealously protect the solar gadgets and urged them to them to only use the solar at the right time where there is no power to ensure their durability.
