A retired Bishop of the Anglican Church of Uganda attached to South Rwenzori Diocese has observed the need for the couples to stick and commit themselves to their marriage vows.
Bishop Zebedee Kahangwa Masereka made the observation today afternoon while addressing a section of couples who are currently gathered at Shiloh Hotel in Kasese town for a three-day Diocesan Residential Couples’ Conference that started yesterday and is expected to end tomorrow.
Accompanied by his wife, Stella Masereka, who commended the leadership of the Diocese for organizing such a retreat meant to rehabilitate some families that are at the verge of breaking, asked the participants to remain committed to the marriage vows as a way of preventing cases of domestic violence.
Earlier, in her remarks, the Provincial Mothers’ Union and Family Life Community Development Coordinator, Rev. Barbara Mugisha appealed to the couples to desist from having multiple sexual relationships outside their marriages, arguing that the act would come along with evil spirits into their families.
The Church Minister stressed that there was need for the couples to prioritize their own families while executing crucial decisions instead of first consulting parents for guidance. She quoted the Biblical Book of Mathew 19: 5-6.
Rev. Mugisha urged the couples to always own wealth as a family instead of hiding money from one another.
