A section of political leaders in Kasese District has warned the learners who have just completed their Primary Leaving Examinations and Uganda Certificate of Examinations to be conscious of the prevalence of HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases as they go back to their respective communities.
Mr. Joseph Muhindo, the NRM flag bearer for Basecamp Ward in the Central Division of Kasese Municipality says that sexually transmitted diseases have become common among the people, targeting the young girls and boys.
Muhindo advises that the people in their vacation should protect themselves against their colleagues who have intentions to infect them with incurable diseases.
Mr. Muhindo also appeals to the learners who are currently in their vacation to embrace the idea of utilizing the holidays to acquire vocational skills in ICT, weaving, carpentry and tailoring as an additional opportunity to seeking employment.
Julius Bwambale, the Councilor representing Kituti Parish in Karambi Sub-county, Bukonzo County West, asks the learners in their vacation to keep at their homes and aim at joining other levels of education in the subsequent year.
According to him, completing P.7, S.4 and S.6 becomes the foundation of education until one completes other levels that can lead to employment and acquisition of other lifesaving skills.
Mr. Peterson Muhindo, the Chairperson L.C II for Nyakasanga II Ward in Nyamwamba Division, calls on the parents to assign duties to their children during the holidays so that they are kept busy and active at their respective homes.
