Parents in Kasese district have been asked to fulfil their responsibilities as far as upbring children is concerned just borrowing a leaf from the early people who owned their young ones communally.
The remarks were sounded by the Kasese District Chairperson yesterday afternoon while addressing residents of Kyamakungu village in Kyondo sub-county who had gathered to sympathize with the family of Ms Peregia Nyangoma and her husband Mr. Augustine Thaghembwa who were on money evening attacked by their own son, Vinent Muhindo Punyunyu who has since died following the incident.
Muhindi explained that in the ancient times, parents used to groom their children communally and all the people were responsible for looking after the young ones unlike today where some parents hate their fellows for trying to advise their offsprings where necessary.
The District Boss revealed that the negligence of some parents has made their children do what they like including involving themselves in drug abuse and looking for money at a tender age among other social evils that influence them to commit evils before the public.
Mr. Juvenal Muke, the Kyondo Sub- County Chairperson urged the parents to strengthen their faith and that of their children.
Hon. Sylvia Masika, the Sub- County Councilor representing Buyagha Parish asked the District Chairperson to fight against the habit of selling drugs on streets and other exposed areas, arguing that the act has made many people to turn mad.
