The youth in Bukonzo County East, Kasese district have been asked to use sports events as platforms for spreading peace messages and sharing issues related to development.
The remarks were sounded yesterday afternoon by Ms Roset Masika, the Technical Committee Chairperson for Dr. Julius Monday Bwambale Rude Tournament while addressing the youth councilors and team captains at Kyarumba Primary School.
The 4th edition of the tournament is set to begin on December 13, 2024 and will end on January 03, 2025.
Masika explained that since most youth love sports, they should use such events as opportunities to promote peaceful messages and share experiences with their fellows.
Mr. Jerome Muhindo, the Youth Councilor for Kitabu Sub-county called upon his fellow youth to get involved in such activities saying they were not politically motivated despite their sponsor being a politician.
Francis Birungi, the Coordinator for Zone B of the tournament hailed Dr. Rude for his endless efforts towards organizing the tournaments that normally bring the youth together to showcase their talents and discuss other developmental ideas.
Mr. Rabson Waitha, the Secretary to the Technical Committee of the Tournament called for discipline among the players.
