A section of youth in Kasese Municipality has decried the alleged lack of access to industries, factories and socio-economic empowerment programs from the government to enable them get job opportunities.
They expressed their concern yesterday morning while speaking to Mr. Francis Mugisa Kithulha, one of the people seeking election for the position of Kasese Municipality Member of Parliament, who was walking from home to home and workplaces of while seeking votes.
The youth, most of them being small-scale entrepreneurs in Kamulikwizi cell, argued that they were lacking access to factories from which they could be employed to address the challenge of unemployed.
Mr. Ali Kahangiro, a welder at Kamulikwizi in Nyamwamba Division said that despite having attained numerous skills, they were living a poorly economically transformed life characterized of unemployment, asking the aspiring leaders to think about lobbying for them some projects that would create jobs to them.
Robert Kinyonyozi, a shoe maker in the area explained that as entrepreneurs, they were facing a challenge of lack of access to socio-economic empowerment programs including the Parish Development Model.
Responding to their concerns, Kithulha told them that his programs were answering their challenges as highlighted.
According to him, he was set to establish a career guidance and information centre from where the youth would seek guidance on career selection and linkage to the job opportunities.
Kithulha also assured the community members of lobbying for funds that would support those who carry out illegal activities from the Queen Elizabeth National Park in order to create a way for them to stop the risky activities.
