The Kasese District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Florence Kabugho has encouraged the residents to embrace animal rearing as an enterprise that would boost the economy.
The legislator sounded the encouragement last evening while supervising ad monitoring the members of Kayembe Abakyara Thuyikulhaye in Katooke I village, Bogoye sub-county in Busongora County North who are among the beneficiaries of her self established project of giving goats to the organized farmer groups.
Hon. Kabugho explained that through commercial farming including animal rearing the people can be empowered economically and hence get money to pay school fees for their children among other needs.
Some of the beneficiaries including Mrs. Jones Masika, the group chairperson,Erinora Ithungu, Scovia Nyangoma, Enid Musoki and Medius Biira reported that their project was progressing.
They, however, reported fears that some goats from the neighbourhoods had started dying of strange disease, calling upon the extension workers to come to their rescue.
Some of the leaders including Sam Kibogho, the Bugoye sub-county FDC Chairperson, Zabrone Mbusa Kitsongero, the Katooke I village Chairperson hailed the legislator for initiating the project.
