Kasese Catholic Diocese unveils a 13-member committee to steer the preparations of the 2026 Uganda Martyrs’ Day celebrations

The Catholic Diocese of Kasese has inaugurated and unveiled a 13-member committee to steer the preparations of the 2026 Uganda Martyrs’ celebrations that will be led by Diocese at Namugongo Martyrs’ Shrine.

The Diocese of Kasese animated the Namugongo celebrations in 2005 and it will be repeating the same next year 2026.

In meeting held today morning at the Bishop’s Hall, the Vicar General, Msgr Landus Bwambale who represented the Diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Francis Acquirinus Kibira unveiled the committee members who are headed by Rev. Fr. John Baptist Kule as the Chairperson.

Msgr Bwambale implored the committee members to work as a team in order to make the event a successful one.

In a jovial mood, Fr. John Baptist Kule, the Organizing Committee Chairperson asked all the religious and political leaders to help in mobilizing resources. According to him, the event is not only a religious function but also puts Kasese on the world map.

Mr. George S. Mayinja, the Chairperson of the Diocesan Laity Council who also doubles as a member of the committee implored the faithful to in addition to the Martyrs’ Day celebrations prioritize the construction works of the Cathedral in attempt to have what to showcase to the entire world.

Other committee members include Mr. Joseph Nzukwa, Ms. Queengonda Asiimwe, Sr. Sarah Muhindo, Fr. Anyasio Mbusa and Fr. Cosmas Asaba among others.
