The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) in Kasese District has petitioned the Woman Member of Parliament to formerly explain more about the shillings 1 million seed capital meant to benefit the members of the opposition party’s Women League SACCO.
Recently, Hon. Sarah Ithungu Masereka announced that she had secured the said funds but the Kasese FDC Chairperson, Mr. Ronald Bwambale Kabuku denies the existence of any SACCO for the members of the party’s Women League.
During the launch of the NRM Women and Youth Leagues’ SACCOs, Hon. Ithungu announced that she had also secured money to give to the members of the FDC Women League as one of the ways of empowering them enhance their socio-economic livelihoods.
Hon. Ithungu indicated that she had launched the socio-economic empowerment programs to the people of Kasese irrespective of their political party affiliations in order for them to grow together in terms of savings.
While addressing the press today morning at the party offices in Kasese Town, Kabuku, who however, appreciated the initiative by the Woman Member of Parliament, said he had written to her requesting for clarification of the mentioned amount of money, adding that none of their members was aware of it, except rumours that most people see on some social media platforms.
According to Kabuku, FDC Kasese branch does not have any group registered as a SACCO, arguing that he does not know the individuals who worked with the legislator to request for funding.
The FDC Chairperson used the same platform to request some groups, individuals and well-wishers to always first seek guidance from the party leadership in order to avoid the challenge of impersonation and misuse of the party’s name.
