Bishop Kibira challenges Christians to emulate the legacy of the fallen Pope

BY MATHIUS KAHUNGU

The Bishop of the Diocese of Kasese, the Rt. Rev. Francis Acquirinus Kibira has challenged Christians to emulate and complete the legacy that the deceased Pope Francis has left behind.

The Prelate sounded the challenge today morning while delivering his homily to a section of Christians who had gathered at Our Lady of Assumption Kasese Roman Catholic Cathedral Church in Kasese town for a requiem mass that was meant to pray for the soul of the departed Pope.

Bishop Kibira explained to the Christians that the departed Pope was a champion of peace, joy and love to the vulnerable and marginalized groups of people including refugees.

He called upon the Christians to embrace the above pillars that the Pope used to cherish as they continue serving the people of God.

The Prelate also implored the Christians to spearhead the Pope’s message on environmental protection through planting more trees as indicated in his letter dubbed “Laudato si.”

The requiem mass attracted several dignitaries including the former Kasese FDC Chairperson, Mr. Saulo Maate, Mr. Francis Mugisa Kithulha, the sole sponsor of Kithulha Care Initiative and Ms Mary Marylyn Kabugho.

In his eulogy message, Kithulha observed the need for the people of Kasese to promote the departed Pope’s message through embracing the tree planting campaign as a way of fighting against global warming.

On his part, the Outspoken Maate, described the fallen Pope as a person who would promote the gospel of love and unity among the people irrespective of their races.

Ms. Marylyn Kighotha stressed that as the Christians pray for the soul of the departed Pope, they should too pray for peace and development in their families.
