Baryomunsi urges residents of Kasese to make good use of any funds obtained from government

BY JONAN MUZIGITI

The minister for ICT and National Guidance Dr Chris Baryomunsi has advised residents of Kasese district to always make good use of any funds obtained from government.

Dr Baryomunsi says government has been bankrolling various interventions that are geared towards to eradicating poverty from the communities yet some of the beneficiaries have instead misused the funds.

The ICT senior minister cites the Emyooga Project as one such presidential initiative that was intended to get people out of poverty yet what was supposed to be a revolving fund has been squandered by the first beneficiaries.

Baryomunsi, who also doubles as the NRM vice chairperson for western Uganda, however, commended a few groups in Kasese district that have handled Emyooga finances well before appealing to those who first benefited from the project to return the money so that their colleagues also benefit.

Meanwhile, in a rather controversial twist of events, FDC strong man and Kasese Municipality MayorMr. Chance Kahindo, is lobbying for the appointment of an NRM Member of Parliament into cabinet.

Kahindo, who over the weekend was addressing Dr Baryomunsi who was chief guest at a graduation ceremony of skilling students in Kasese town, said Kasese municipality mp Hon. Kambale Ferigo deserves a cabinet posting since he has been implementing the NRM manifesto very well and thus courted the ICT Minister to lobby President Museveni to appoint the Kasese legislator in cabinet.

Kahindo revealed that leaders in Kasese municipality have placed their divergent party affiliations aside and are working towards the development of the town; this perhaps partly explains why he finds no trouble in advocating for the appointment of Ferigo.
