BY ISAAC MUMBERE

A section of district councillors have raised a red flag over alleged misappropriation of funds regarding the over UGX 200 million meant to renovate the Kasese Multipurpose Hall in Rukoki.

Mr Gad Mugisha, the district councillor representing Kitswamba Sub-county, noted that whereas UGX 200 million was earmarked for the renovation works at the multipurpose yet only very little was done.

According to Mugisha, there is also no report that has been documented about the renovation works of the facility questioning the accountability procedures being employed by Kasese district local government.

Hon. Ham Natuhwera, representing Nyakatonzi Sub-county, proposed that a probe committee be instituted to investigate the circumstances under which the amount was spent.

However, the District Administrative Officer, Mr. Edward Kasagara, advised that the Social Services and Technical Committees to first establish how much was budget vis-à-vis what was actually expended for the same work.
