Police warn residents against hiding defilers

BY ABDALA MASEREKA

The Police in Kasese District have warned the residents to desist from the act of hiding defilement cases in their respective communities.

The warning was sounded yesterday by the Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime while addressing the press at Kasese Central Police Station.

Tumushime indicated that cases of defilement were increasing, revealing that last week, they registered four.

According to him, two of the cases were registered in Katwe- Kabatoro, Busongora County South  and identified the suspects as Gilbert Ainebyona a salon operator, who is alleged to have defiled a 13- year- old pupil at Saad Islamic Primary School and Elijah Masereka and Hazard Sseguya who were arrested from Katadoba in Kasese Municipality.

He also reported that they had started registering cases of child stealing where according to him, they were holding Ms Robinah Masika on allegations of stealing an 11-months-old baby from Basecamp.

Tumushime appealed to the parents to keep a keen eye on their children and also encouraged them to take photos of their young-ones so that when they go missing, they can help the police to race for them.

He used the same platform to appeal to the public and political candidates to adhere to the guidelines from the Electoral Commission and cooperate with police during the current political season.
