Police in Rwenzori East region complete a 5-day refresher training on Public Order Management

The police in the Rwenzori East Region have successfully concluded a five – day refresher training on the Public Order Management ahead of the 2026 General Elections with a call on the officers to exhibit professionalism and respect of the law.

On Monday this week, the police officially started the training dubbed “Operation Mahali Salama” at Mother Care Preparatory School.

It was aimed at equipping the police with Public Order Management Skills and tactics of quelling riots and violence that might arise during the forthcoming elections.

Today, the training came to its climax with the passing out of a team of police officers at Nyakasanga Playground in Kasese town.

SSP Justus Asiimwe, who was the Team Leader as well as the Exercise Supervisor, commended the police officers for their resilience and commitment towards loving and serving their country.

He, however, challenged them to stick to their primary roles including restoring peace and harmony in case of confrontations from rioters as well as ensuring the safety of the citizens.

The Rwenzori East Police Commander, SSP Denis Odoch, asked the police officers to exhibit high level of integrity in their operations.

According to him, the police officers should uphold the ethical code of conduct, courage, patriotism and abide by the law as they serve the public.

He also observed the need for the police officers to be vigilant and working closely with the community members as they serve them with commitment and dignity. 

The Kasese Deputy RDC in-charge of Bukonzo County, Lt (Rtd) Maate Magwara who officiated at the exercise, applauded the police for conducting such an activity in front of the public.

According to him, the act portrays professionalism of the forces and community engagement as well as a sign of peace in the country.
