Kasese nominees for 2026 general elections pledge improving household incomes

A section of candidates who were nominated for the different Local Government Council positions in Kasese district has pledged to promote improved agriculture and tourism activities to empower the residents realize improved household incomes should they sail through the elections successfully.

The incumbent Kasese District Chairperson, Eliphaz MuhindiBukombi who was nominated for the same position last Friday, says he wants the people to embrace commercial agriculture and local tourism so that their incomes at household levels are improved.

According to Muhindi, the government is emphasizing the establishment of irrigation schemes in districts that experience drought for food security and economic empowerment.

Mrs. Glades Ahebwa, who is seeking election for the position of Woman Councillor representing Karusandara Sub- County says food production and access to market would be her priority in her electoral area. She pledges to lobby for valuable and early maturing seeds.

Annet Ithungu, who is seeking election for the position of Woman Councillor representing Muhokya and Kahokya sub-counties, argues that farmers in her area have not been sensitized about how to make farming asa business in order for them to earn a living.

According to her, she would ensure that local farmers are exposed to agricultural extension workers so that they guide them on what to do in an attempt to boost food production.

Faibi Musoki, who was nominated for the position of Woman Councillor representing Nyakabingo and Kilembe sub-counties, stresses that she would ensure the farmers are linked to the cooperatives that offer agricultural loans to them.
