The territorial police in Rwenzori East policing region, Kasese district have commended the residents for giving a warm welcome and cooperating with the visitors who thronged the district to participate in the just concluded Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon.
Over the weekend, Kasese district especially Kasese town was full of 6,000 visitors from at least 34 countries purposely to take part in the marathon.
Addressing the press today morning at Kasese Central Police Station, the Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, revealed that despite a few cases of assault and theft registered, the Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon ended successfully.
He was happy that the heavy deployment of both the police and UPDF personnel helped to contain crimes and road accidents during the event.
SP Tumushime, however, revealed that yesterday they registered a murder case and identified the victim as Jel Bwambale, a 17-year-old student at Trinity Vocational Secondary School.
He reported that so far, one person has been arrested by police to aid the investigation into the matter.
