Over 180 students on Friday graduated with certificates and diplomas in Nursing and Midwifery courses at Bwera School of Nursing and Midwifery in Mpondwe-Lhubiriha Town Council, Bukonzo County West in Kasese district.

The function which was presided over by the State Minister for Primary Healthcare, Margret Mugisha Muhanga who was represented by the Minister of State for ICT and National Guidance, Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga Kiime, was the 2nd graduation ceremony since the establishment of the private Nursing and Midwifery training institution in 2015.

Presenting the School report to the congregation, the school’s principal, Eve Ithungu said the institution has helped to sensitize the community on the communicable and non-communicable diseases since they neighbor the Uganda- DR Congo border that is prone to epidemics and pandemics.

Ithungu said that the school, in partnership with the Health Centre IIIs in Bukonzo County west, has conducted several community health outreaches in order to create more health awareness.

In his remarks, one of the school Directors, Mr Sowedi Kitanywa, who is also the Busongora County North Member of Parliament, urged all the graduands to exhibit good discipline and professional code of conduct in their places of work.

Minister Kabbyanga pointed out the most negative issue affecting health facilities in Uganda as the poor attitude of some health workers, emphasizing the need for them to be compassionate to their patients as they attend to them.
