One person is in police custody at Kasese Central Police Station on allegations of vandalizing an electric transformer and its components.

The Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime has identified the suspect as Jimmy Muhindo, a resident of Katonzi Cell in Nyakabingo III Ward, Bulembia Division in Kasese Municipality.

According to the Regional Police Mouthpiece, the suspect was arrested last evening at his home following intelligence information indicating that he was in possession of an electric transformer, wires and other parts.

SP Tumushime told the press that five of the suspect’s accomplices are still at large and a manhunt for them is ongoing.

He has since discouraged the general public in Kasese district to desist from involving themselves in acts of vandalism, adding that should someone be arrested, they would be charge with a capital offense and subsequently arraigned in the courts of law.

Muhindo’s arrest comes barely two weeks after a similar case of vandalism was registered in Basecamp Lower of the Central Division in Kasese Municipality and the suspect is still at large.
