The Uganda Police Force has reinforced security in Kasese through the deployment of police bomb sward and other personnel in the area head of tomorrow’s 57th coronation anniversary celebrations for the Rwenzururu King, Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma.
Tomorrow’s function that will be held at Kilembe Golf Club in Bulembia Division of Kasese Municipality also marks the 14th coronation anniversary ever since the government of Uganda officially recognized the Omusinga as a cultural leader in October 19, 2009.
The function that is expected to be presided over by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni becomes the first in a period of seven years since the Omusinga was arrested on November 27, 2016.
While addressing the press at the Rwenzori East Regional Headquarters in Kasese town, SP Nelson Tumushime, the regional mouthpiece said everything has been set by security to protect the crowds of people who are expected to attend the function.
According to him, the reinforcement of the police bomb sward and other departments of police is to ensure a safer environment for the Rwenzururu subjects to enjoy the day amidst terror threats.
Hem however, cautioned the people intending to attend the function against the practice of carrying heavy luggage, bags, containers and sharp objects, arguing that there would be thorough checking at the entrance.
On his part, the Kasese Resident District Commissioner, Lt. Joe Walusimbi explained that they had held meetings with the event organizers and agreed on some guidelines to be followed.
