Tororo Municipality has been selected to host the 56th Annual General Assembly for the Urban Authorities’ Association of Uganda next year.

The urban centre was selected on Friday during closure of the 55th Annual General Assembly of the association that was held in Kasese Municipality under the theme, “Building inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable urban authorities in Uganda, a call for everyone.”

Mr. Orono Nyapidi Kenne, the Municipality Mayor, who expressed his gratitude to the members for selecting his urban centre, described his area as an accommodative one because of its good tourism features including the Tororo rock and cement factory.

Mr. Moses Lorika, the Town Clerk for Tororo Municipality, revealed that the proximity of the Urban Centre to the Kenyan boarder paves more chances to the association’s members to cross to the neighbouring country and explore more tourism features.

Dr. Wilson Sanya, the President of the Urban Authorities’ Association of Uganda, noted that the 56th Annual General Assembly is expected to be held in the first or second quarter of the next financial year.

He implored the leadership of the host urban centre to work with the association’s secretariat to plan for the success of the event.

During the just concluded Annual General Assembly, the members approved the current financial year’s work plan and budget worth over shillings 1.7 trillion.
