The police in Kasese District, Rwenzori East Policing Region have arrested three people to aid investigations into the alleged killing f a 33-year-old man.
The incident happened yesterday in Kamulikwizi Cell, Nyamwamba Division in Kasese Municipality.
SP Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Regional Spokesperson told the press today at Kasese Central Police Station that after discovering that Simon Kutegeka had allegedly been killed from Kamulikwizi at Plus II Guest House, they made an arrest of the suspects as a way of securing more information about the incident.
Tumushime, who didn’t disclose the names and details of the suspects for security reasons, note that they were still hunting other people in connection with the same incident in an attempt to dispense justice to the bereaved family.
The Regional Police Mouthpiece, who regretted the incident, revealed that yesterday another person who is yet to be identified was discovered having been murdered by a mob in Kahokya Cell, Kirembe Ward in the Central Division. The deceased according to him is alleged to have stollen maize from a plantation.
He, however, stressed that no arrests had been made and the body was picked by police and conveyed to Kasese Municipal Health Centre III for a postmortem examination as they wait for the relatives to pick the body for a descent burial.
The police have since condemned the act of killing people, arguing that the act does not only violate the right to live but also sabotages their efforts to make investigations.
