Suspected poor harvest worries leaders in Kasese

BY ABDALA MASEREKA

Farmers in Kasese district have been encouraged to stock their little harvest for food consumption after realizing a poor harvest this season.

The encouragement was sounded yesterday by the Kasese District Principal Agricultural Officer, Mr. Julius Rukara while speaking to our reporter in an exclusive interview at his office in Rukoki.

Rukara explained that following a low harvest this season, the farmers ought to concentrate on food security and reserve some seeds to plant during the subsequent planting season.

He attributed the low harvest realized in the season of March – May to low and unreliable rains in Kasese district, appealing to the farmers especially in those dealing in agro-business to always consult the Extension Officers about the nature of the season before planting.
