The South Rwenzori Diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku has reiterated the need for the people living on the Rwenzori Mountains to prioritize environmental conservation.
The prelate sounded the remarks today afternoon while preaching to the congregation at St. Andrew’s Buhunga Church of Uganda Parish in Maliba Archdeaconry.
The Bishop also observed the need for the people neighboring wetlands to establish nature friendly projects like apiculture instead of undermining them.
He encouraged cultural leaders to spearhead the practice of planting trees instead of practicing rituals including cleansing of villages in an attempt to attract rains and save the receding snows from the Rwenzori Mountains.
During the same service, the Bishop confirmed 26 Christians into the Anglican faith with a call on them to embrace doing good works so that they are saved from sin.
He quoted the Biblical Book of Proverbs 21: 3.
