South Rwenzori Diocesan Bishop confirms date for opening Kagando University College

The South Rwenzori Diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku has confirmed that Kagando University College would officially be opened on April 04, this year.

Located at Kagando in Kisinga Town Council, Kasese district, the University College is affiliated to Uganda Christian University, aprivate church-founded university administered by the Church of Uganda.

Bishop Baluku says the institution will officially be opened by the Archbishop of the Province of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Samuel Stephen Kazimba Mugalu and the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education and Sports.

The Prelate who made the revelation yesterday, asked the residents in Kasese district to offer total support to the institution for its development and sustainability.

In a separate development, Bishop Baluku observed the need for the learners to embrace co-curricular activities as an alternative way of addressing the challenge of unemployment and promoting talents among the youth.

He made the observation with the a group of priests from St. Peter’s Anglican Cathedral in the United States of America who had visited Bwera Secondary in Mpondwe – Lhubiriha Town Council to monitor the basketball that they had funded.

In his remarks, the Head teacher at Bwera Secondary School, Mr. Yokonia Bwambale hailed the Office of the Bishop and the team from the United States of America for the support rendered to the institution.  

Timothy Tumukunde, a basketball player at Bwera Secondary School hailed the Bishop for supporting their team with sports materials to facilitate their trainings.
