The South Rwenzori Diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku has said he is happy with the rate at which Christianity is growing among the Ugandan citizens.
The Prelate sounded the remarks today morning while preaching to the congregation at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Kasese town during a service in which he was confirming 247 students into the Anglican faith.
The confirmants were drawn from St. Paul’s Vocational Secondary School, Kasese Secondary School, St. Mary’s High School, Mulongiti Prinary School, Real Vision, Unique Valley Primary School, Rwenzori Christian Secondary School and Rwenzori Elverum Primary School among others.
The Bishop stressed that he was impressed by the high percentage of Christianity in the just released results of the 2024 National Population and Housing Census.
According to the Bishop, the 37.4% of the Catholics, 30% of the Anglicans and the 14.7% of the Pentecostals were indicators of growth of Christian faith among the people in the country.
The Man of God, however, observed need for the people to embrace formal education so that they are able to contribute to the development of the country morally, socially and spiritually.
He urged the learners to develop positive attitudes towards learning so that they can become successful in their lives.
Mrs. Judith Busingye, the Deputy Head Teacher at Kasese Secondary School applauded the Bishop for following up the learners in schools and to also instill the spirit of devotion in them.
Mrs. Anna Kule, the Head of Laity for St. Paul’s Cathedral commended Heads of Schools for always complying with a request and some guidelines made to them by the church.
