Residents demand for a public cemetery in Hima Town Council, Kasese

BY JOACKIM KULE MUHESI

The need for a public cemetery in Hima Town Council today dominated the Busongora North Constituency Public Accountability Rally organized by Kasese District Local Government at Hima Primary School.

A cemetery is a burial place of people and creates a bond with the family of the deceased.

Mr. Robert Olwenye Toldo, a 40- year-old youth from Mowlem Ward told the gathering that sometimes the community members find it hard to bury the natives with small pieces of land in the Town Council as well as those who come to work in the area without clear identifications and the places where they originate from.

According to Toldo, they have always got stuck whenever some of the natives who do not have relatives in the area die, appealing to the government to secure a piece of land where such a category of people would be buried.

Responding to the concerns, the Hima Town Council Vice Chairperson, Mr. Justus Kato revealed that they were too concerned about the matter.

He assured the community members that they had allocated some money in the 2025/2026 Financial Year budget purposely to buy land on which to bury such natives whenever they die.

TheKasese District Chairperson, Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi implored the community members to use their local leaderships to present the challenges affecting their development both socially and economically.
