Residents call for a rehabilitation center in Kasese

Concerned residents with political interests in Kasese Municipality have observed the need for the establishment of a rehabilitation centre for street children in the urban centre.

Mr. Amos Kabagambe, one of the people who are looking for the NRM party flag for position of Central Division Chairperson says the issue of street kids in the urban centre seems to have been taken for granted yet their numbers are increasing day by day.

He therefore calls on the current leaders to devise means of putting in place a rehabilitation centre before all streets in Kasese town are filled up with street kids.

Mr. Livingstone Kato Zunguka, who is also vying the same seat on the NUP ticket, observes the need for the Municipal leaders to devise ways of re-uniting the street kids with their parents and guardians.

According to him, many of the street kids in Kasese town know their parents and homes, suggesting that as a security measure, they need to be taken back to their relatives so that the town remains clean and free from strangers.

However, an effort to get a comment from the Municipal leadership was fruitless by press time.
