The Kasese District Chairperson has revealed that despite a petition by the minority group blocking the approval of the Chairperson for the District Service Commission, the Local Government will still carry out the recruitment process of civil servants.

On December 19, 2024, the District convened at Kasese Youth Polytechnic and approved retired Ven. Charles Mbusa to serve the position of the Chairperson for the District Service Commission, replacing the Late Lawrence Tiruganya.

However, during the same council, representatives of the minority groups contested the nomination and approval of the candidate, arguing that they were not considered on the commission.

While addressing council during its sitting on Tuesday at the multipurpose hall in Nyamwamba Division, Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi, the District Chairperson, revealed that after the minority report, the district leadership was later summoned before the Equal Opportunities Commission which advised them to go ahead with the current recruitment exercise but ensure that the next appointment should have a third of the members being females.

He repeated his earlier warning to the job applicants against the act of giving money to the people who might come to them claiming that they would assist them secure jobs in the Service Commission.
