President Museveni commits to support developing Bulemba Burial Site

President Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Museveni has expressed his commitment to support Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu-OBR in transforming Bulemba into a modern cultural site.

In his message delivered by Vice President Maj. Jessica Alupo, Mr. Museveni noted that Bulemba which is found in present-day Ihandiro sub-county in the Mt Rwenzori National Park is a very important feature of the Bakonzo cultural heritage being the burial ground for Rwenzururu’s first king Isaya Mukirania Kibanzanga.

The comments were made at Kilembe Mines Golf Course during the celebrations to mark the 58th coronation anniversary of Rwenzururu King Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma.

President Museveni also emphasized the critical need for cultural institutions to uphold and promote the positive cultural norms and values citing indigenous languages as rich bank of social philosophy that all Africans ought to be taught.

President Museveni also commended the Omusinga for championing the rebranding process of the kingdom hinged on the five pillars of unity in diversity, reconciliation, peace-building, mindset change and socio-economic transformation.

He implored the cultural leader mobilize their subjects towards embracing government programmes aimed at alleviating poverty from the community.

She delivered a 30-million shillings contribution to support the coronation anniversary celebration. ENDS
