Parents urged to instill religious norms into the children

BY ISAAC MUMBERE

Parents in Kasese District have been reminded to train their children the religious, cultural and social aspects during the period that they will spend in the holiday break.

The reminder was sounded yesterday by the Kasese Municipal Inspector of Schools, Ms Tobia Kyomuhendo while addressing the parents during a graduation ceremony of the Top Class pupils at Greenwich Nursery and Primary School in Nyamwamba Division.

Kyomuhendo argued that some the days the pupils have been at their respective schools, they have been learning and speaking English, appealing to the parents to use the holiday break to teach them the local languages and issues related to culture.

Mr. Richard Kakyanjo, the Head teacher at Greenwich Nursery and Primary School, urged the parents to show love and care to their children while at home.

At Rwenzori Christian Nursery and Primary School where a similar event was held, Mr. Emmy Mwesige Kayiri, the Kasese Municipal Education Officer, who also doubles as the school’s Director, called upon both privately owned  and government grant-aided primary schools to prioritize graduation ceremonies, speech days and debates in schools, saying they sharpen the minds of pupils.

Kayiri used the same platform to encourage the parents to take care of their girl children during the holiday break that involves the Christmas festival. He also appealed to the young ones to desist from the practice of receiving free gifts from strangers.
