The Police at Kasese Central Police Station are investigating circumstances under which a yet to be identified man cheated death following a serious road crash.
The incident which occurred today morning near Silver Springs Hotel and the Delta bridge along Kasese- Fort portal Highway involved a yet to be identified motorcycle and a Fuso track Registration Number UAX 943U white in Colour.
According to Mr. Samson Mumbere, an eyewitness attributed the incident to over speeding of both the cyclist and the driver.
Mumbere narrated that the cyclist, who was riding on a terrible speed, knocked the rear side of the track which was trying to negotiate a corner, prompting him to lose control and fell down badly, injuring his arm and other parts of the body.
SP Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson told the press that following the incident, the Traffic Police commanded by ASP Sharon Araku responded swiftly to the scene and rushed the casualty to the near-by health facility.
By press the time, the police had impounded the motor vehicle while the whereabouts of the motorcycle remained unknown.
SP Tumushime cautioned the road users to always be conscious while using the roads coupled with observing traffic signs as a means of reducing the occurrence of related incidents.
