One person has been stabbed to death during Christmas Eve celebrations in Kasese Municipality.
The incident happened on Tuesday night at one of the bars in Kyondo Cell, Scheme Ward of Nyamwamba Division.
Rwenzori East Regional Community Liaisons Officer, SP Luke Mbusa confirmed the incident and identified the deceased as Eliphazi Kambale, a 22- year old boda-boda rider at Majengo stage.
The dead is a son to Mr. Zephanus Ndairiho, a resident of Wasewanaba Cell, Kirembe Ward of the Central Division.
SP Mbusa confided to the press today afternoon that it was believed that the deceased together with some revelers at Vegas Bar were involved in a scuffle which apparently emanated from a missing phone.
According to the police statement, the deceased was stabbed while attempting to stop those who were fighting someone that they had suspected to have stolen their phone.
Following the incident, the police swung into action, documented about the tragedy and arrested one person who was suspected to have stabbed the deceased to help them in investigations. The suspect is detained at Kasese Central Police in Kasese town.
One of the deceased’s friends, Jonad Misaali who sympathized with the bereaved family told our reporter he left the deceased at the bar at around 9pm and later was surprised to hear of his demise.
