Omusinga calls for peaceful means of resolving issues for the people encamped at the RDC’s office in Kasese town

BY ABDALA MASEREKA

The Rwenzururu King (Omusinga) Charles Wesley Mumbere Iremangoma  has appealed to all the stakeholders including religious leaders to speak out about the continued stay of the people who current encamped at the RDC’s office in Kasese town over issues related to land wrangles across the district.

The Omusinga, who was today afternoon addressing the press at his Kamaiba based palace in Kasese town, noted that as government looks for a lasting solution to the issue, military force should not be used when it comes to resettling the victims.

This, according to him might lead to continued land disputes in Kasese district.

The Rwenzururu Cultural leader observed that Kasese district has for long witnessed land conflicts that have often hindered development, appealing to the government to handle the land wrangles with fairness without favoring one party among the many in conflicts.

He warned the politicians against the practice of politicizing the issue of the people encamped at the RDC’s office over land.

He pledged to work with the officials from Kampala to ensure that the issue of encamped persons is handled amicably.

The Omusinga, who sympathized with the encamped persons, however, asked them to maintain peace as they wait for government to put in place a lasting solution.
