Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Prime Minister calls on subjects to heighten efforts against climate change

The Prime Minister of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu, the Rt. Hon. Benson Kule Baritazale has called for efforts by the subjects to plant trees in a bid to reduce the rate of global warming.

Rt. Hon. Baritazale sounded the call today afternoon while addressing a section of subjects who had throned the Buhikira Royal Hill in Kasese town to witness the launch of planting indigenous tree species, an activity that was sponsored by People and Nature Rwenzori Mountains together with Good Forest Foundation Uganda. 

The Premier noted that it was everyone’s responsibility to conserve the environment in an attempt to curtail the effects of global warming.

He also implored all the Rwenzururu Kingdom Ministers and other leaders to become the Commanders of development through effective monitoring of all the activities carried out in particular clans.

He cited programs in a number sectors including education, clan SACCOs and other income generating activities meant to create a poverty free society.

James Thembo, who represented the Good Forest Foundation Uganda formerly Fair Ventures, explained that they thought it wise to plant some indigenous tree species in order to supplement the already planted improved varieties of trees on the hill.
