Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu has appealed to the Government of Uganda to expedite the process of fulfilling the pledges that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni made to the cultural institution.
The cultural institution sounded the appeal through her 1st Deputy Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Patrick Baluku Muhesi while addressing the press this evening at the Kingdom’s Liaisons Office in Kasese town.
Rt. Hon. Muhesi reiterated that among other pledges, the President promised to be offering Specialized Treatment to the King (Omusinga), the Queen (Nyabaghole) and some members of the Royal family.
He, however, used the same platform to clarify that the Omusinga is not critically ill as claimed by some social media posts, adding that he only needs frequent medical checkups and treatment as a person of advanced age so that he can continue living a healthy life.
He commended a section of the Members of Parliament from Kasese district including Hon. Gideon Thembo Mujungu, Hon. Sowedi Kitanywa and Hon. Ferigo Kambale for their initiative of reminding the President about the urgent need to fulfill his pledge of offering specialized treatment to the King in a letter dated April 18, 2025.
He, on the other hand, observed the need for the concerned politicians to have first consulted the Kingdom to add her voice about the matter.
Asked about the authenticity of the letter, Hon. Ferigo Kambale for Kasese Municipality, who is one of the authors, confirmed that was true that they petitioned the President to offer Specialized Treatment to the King.
