Members of the National Unity Platform (NUP) especially those vying for elective political positions in Kasese district have lashed at the incumbent political leaders for allegedly failing to defend the land victims who are currently being evicted from the premises of the RDC’s office where they had temporarily encamped to seek justice.
Mr. Livingstone Kato Zunguka who is the NUP flag bearer for the position of Local Council III Chairperson for the Centra Division in Kasese Municipality blames the leaders who are currently in offices for not allegedly waking up to defend the people against the orders issued by the District Security Committee directing them to vacate the place after staying there for close to three months.
Zunguka explains that it was the right time for the people of Kasese to begin choosing leaders who mind about representing them in conflict resolution than those inciting violence in their communities.
Mr. Bryans Basisa, the NUP Chairperson lashes at the RDC for attempting to send the people away from the camp without allegedly telling them when their matters would be resolved.
He suggested that the people would be told to go back to their respective homesafter the surveys and boundary opening had been done and subsequently resettling each party on the piece of land that they claim for.
Mr. Joneni Bwambale Bamwenda who seeks election on the position of Busongora County North Member of Parliament, calls on the civil society organizations to come to the rescue of the people and influence justice for them.
But on several occasions, the Kasese Resident District Commissioner is quoted to have said that government was handling their issues, calling upon the victims to remain calm and go back to their respective homes as they wait for justice to be served. ENDS
