On July 17, the party members went to the polls to choose the flag bearers for the positions of Constituency Member of Parliament and District Woman Member of Parliament while on July 24, the party chose flag bearers for the position of District Chairperson and Councillors, Municipal Mayor and Councillors.

Mr. James Bwambale Mbahimba, the Kasese District NRM Chairperson while addressing the press today afternoon at the party offices in Kasese town, dismissed the allegations and said that his executive members and other party officials including Registrars didn’t participate in such a condemned exercise.

He explained that neither him nor the party officials have the mandate to change the election results that have been entered into the computer basing on the declaration forms that have been agreed upon by the candidates’ agents and supporters.

Mbahimba revealed that the party has so far received five petitioned filed by the former candidates who participated in the positions of Members of Parliament seeking party flags across the district,

He also revealed that the party so far has five petitions filed by the people who sought the flags for the positions of members of parliament in the district.

According to him, the petitions are from Mr. Aminadab Muhindo and Gideon Thembo Mujungu for Busongora County South, Mike Asiimwe Mbakania, Robert Masereka Marule for Busongora County North and Mary Maryline Kabugho for Kasese District Woman Parliamentary seat.

He used the same platform to discourage the people from the politics of regionalism, arguing that it is not good because all the residents in Kasese district are related, share common values, norms and behaviours.
