BY ZALIMON BASIGHALHA (GOOD LUCK)

The leadership of NRM in Kyarumba Town Council, Bukonzo County East in Kasese district has appealed to the Central Government to consider elevating Kyarumba Health Centre III to a Health Centre IV status.

The health facility gained a centre III status in 1996 to serves a population of the greater Kyarumba Sub-county with some Primary Health Care Services.

Yesterday, the Town Council NRM leader held their caucus meeting at St. Thomas Kyarumba Church of Uganda and in their report that was read by the party Secretary, James Rude, they indicated that Kyarumba Health Centre III that is meant to serve the residents from one lower local government, currently serves people from five lower local governments.

The lower local governments include Kyarumba Town Council, Kyarumba, Kitabu, Kyondo and Mahango sub-counties.

According to the party leaders, a batch of drugs that is dispatched to the health facility to cater for the patients for one week is only consumed in two days because of the overwhelming number of patients.

The report also indicated that the area has continuously faced high rate of maternal deaths where expectant mothers with complications die along the way. They therefore requested the Central Government to construct a theatre at the health facility and allocate a medical doctor to them to handle such complications that require surgery.

The leaders did not hide to reveal that NRM party has constantly performed badly in the elections because the area is still underserved in terms of health and education among other sectors. More

Mr. Landus Promise Mumbere, the Kyarumba Town Council Speaker, used the same platform to appeal to the Central Government to allocate an excavator to them so that it helps in the de-silting works of River Nyamughasana Water Channel at least from Mughanza village to the lowlands since the river has become a threat to the lives of some residents.

They requested the Bukonzo County East MRM Chairperson, Dr. Julius Monday Bwambale Rude, the flag bearer for the District Woman Parliamentary Seat, Sarah Ithungu Baleke who also graced the function and members of the Central Executive Committee to report their grievances to the Office of the National Chairman.
